The United Arab Emirates continues to set global benchmarks for safety, securing its position as the second safest country in the world, according to the latest report by Numbeo, a leading living database site.
With an impressive safety index score of 84.5, the UAE stands just behind Andorra, a small European nation with a score of 84.7. This recognition further cements the UAE’s commitment to security, ensuring a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.
Numbeo’s safety index is based on five key factors: general perception of crime, safety while walking at night, concerns over violent crime, burglary, and discrimination. The index is continuously updated with survey responses collected over the past 36 months.
The UAE’s top ranking is also reflected in its cities. Dubai, a global hub for tourism and business, was ranked the second safest city worldwide with a score of 83.9, just behind Abu Dhabi, which topped the list with an impressive 88.0, marking its ninth consecutive year at the top. Meanwhile, Sharjah followed closely in third place with a score of 83.8.
The country’s robust security infrastructure, strict law enforcement, and community-driven safety initiatives contribute to its high ranking. The UAE’s recognition on the global stage is a testament to its leadership’s dedication to creating a secure and peaceful society.
Additionally, fellow GCC nations also performed exceptionally well, with Qatar securing third place globally with a score of 84.2 and Oman ranking fifth at 81.7. Other countries in the top 10 include Taiwan, the Isle of Man, Hong Kong, Armenia, Singapore, and Japan.
The UAE’s unwavering focus on safety continues to make it a premier destination for business, tourism, and residency, reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s most secure places to live and visit.
